This collection represents odds and ends from the Yep Roc vaults. Curated from a stock pile of photographs, art work, posters, memorabilia, video clips and slide shows, the retrospective encompasses a decade and a half of an indie record label and a family of musicians who all share the simple common thread: a love of music.
Throughout its 15 years in operation, Chapel Hill based Yep Roc has released more than 300 records ranging from international artists (Nick Lowe, Robyn Hitchcock, Paul Weller) as well as regional and local artists (Chatham County Line, Tift Merritt, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Old Ceremony).
This Yep Roc retrospective examines and celebrates its diversity and love of independent music and the community it exists within.
The show features and brings together national and local artists who have played an integral role in contributing to the Yep Roc brand as it in turns looks to promote its artists. The show features work from visual artists Ron Liberty, Casey Burns, Christopher Williams, Daniel Coston, Mike Traister, Beth Hershaft, Michael Triplett, Mary Gunn, Soleil Konkel and many more.
The show is curated by Yep Roc’s Creative Director Michael Triplett.
The show runs from October 1-31 at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC.
The opening reception will be October 12th from 6-9 p.m. and it’s free to the public.
